The Q-Learning Reading & Vocabulary Program is a systematic English language curriculum designed for elementary and junior high school students. Strictly aligned with the Ontario Language Curriculum and EQAO reading and writing standards, this program expands on school learning through leveled reading, systematic vocabulary acquisition, textual analysis, and language production—helping students build a solid, sustainable foundation in English.

Our curriculum utilizes top-tier leveled reading resources—including Wonders, WonderSkills, and Raz-Kids—complemented by curated literary works, non-fiction texts, and Qilu Academy's proprietary materials in vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension.
Students of different grade levels and reading proficiencies are placed into tailored learning stages. As they progress, they encounter longer passages, more advanced vocabulary, greater text complexity, and deeper analytical demands.
Rather than page-by-page textbook coverage, our instruction builds a complete learning pathway across four core pillars:

Reading | From "Decoding" to "Deep Understanding"
True reading ability extends far beyond recognizing individual words.
In our program, students learn to identify core content, extract key information, analyze characters and plots, and recognize text structures. They master essential reading skills, including: Main Idea, Supporting Details, Sequence, Cause & Effect, Compare & Contrast, Inference, Author’s Purpose, Point of View
As grade levels advance, students explore deeper textual questions:
Why did the author structure the text this way?
Which evidence supports this claim?
Which statements are facts, and which are opinions?
What are the underlying motivations behind a character’s actions?
How do two different texts compare and connect?
How do I form my own position based on textual evidence?
Students move from asking "What does the text say?" to "What does the text mean?", and ultimately "What do I think about it, and why?"

Vocabulary | Turning Words into Active Tools
We avoid memorizing isolated word lists.
Vocabulary instruction takes place within authentic texts and contexts, enabling students to deduce meanings naturally and learn correct usage patterns.

Prefixes & Suffixes: Structural word analysis
Synonyms & Antonyms: Expanding precision in word choice

Every module extends beyond multiple-choice questions. Through oral discussions, sentence construction, summaries, short responses, and opinion pieces, students reframe and apply the vocabulary, sentence structures, and ideas they have learned.
Students advance through structured expression milestones:
Express opinions in complete sentences → Summarize texts accurately → Cite textual evidence → Explain reasoning → Organize structured paragraphs → Produce mature written responses
